Pressing Through
Are you in the mist of a storm? Feeling like the circumstances have set up an ambush around you? Don’t run from it, it’s time to run through it!
As I was meditating on the Word this morning, I was given the 7 keys to pressing through to get to the other side of whatever might be squeezing you.
The foundation from which we work with is found in Philemon 1 and verse 6:
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Your faith will become active when you acknowledge every good thing that is in you. You have more going for you than you may know.
Step 1: Acknowledge that you are not alone.
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Joshua 1:5
This is an important first step. You must recognize that you are not alone in the midst of your circumstances. If you believe you are alone, you will open up the possibilities of doing things as someone in the world system would do them. Often times, that leads to compromise. What you compromise to get, you will have to compromise to keep. You are not alone! You have all of heaven backing you up.
Step 2: Acknowledge that you are loved by God.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
How can you receive help from someone if you don’t believe that they are for you, and not against you? God’s has already planned to give you an expected end. And that end is bring you through whatever it is that is pressing you with flying colors!
Step 3: Acknowledge that God’s Word is final authority.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalm 138:2
Jesus has been given the name above all names (Philippians 2:9: Ephesians 1:21). The name of Jesus is above sickness, disease, poverty, or oppression. You name it, and the name of Jesus is above it. Jesus and the Word are one, for Jesus is the Word made flesh (1 John 1:14). God has elevated His Word above all else because He and His Word are one! It is final authority.
Step 4: Acknowledge that you will do whatever He tells you.
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it… But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. John 2:5 and James 1:22
God has done all He’s going to do. He’s already made the plans to bring you through. But He will not force His will on you. He is not a God where “you never know what God will do.” Yes you will! He will do what He said in His Word. You might not know the process (the how), but you can know what He’s planning. It’s in the Word. And you can know by accessing what you already have, the mind of Christ (1st Corinthians 2:16). As you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:6). He will direct you, but you will have to do what He’s telling you. It’s a small part, but an important one.
Step 5: Acknowledge that you will do all you are suppose to do, then stand.
Therefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
You must remember that you are in the war. The enemy already lost you to God when you accepted the free gift of Christ. So now the war is over rooting out the Word of you or stealing your praise so that you do not fulfill your destiny. There is a constant battle to try to slow you down or kill you off. But God has ordained you for such a time as this! Weapons may form but they shall not prosper.
In any war, the soldiers are dressed for battle. In Ephesians 6, there are 7 pieces of garment that are important for you to continually wear so that you are protected. Don’t run out there naked! Put your clothes on and stand!
Step 6: Acknowledge and repent of any sin
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Why did I put this almost last? It’s the way it flowed out. I’ve been meditating on what is called the “Lord’s Prayer”. In it, you ask for forgiveness toward the end as you forgive those who have transgressed against you. I’m not sure I have all the revelation yet, but it seems to me that God wants you to know more than anything that He loves you, accepts you, and wants the best for you. Perhaps as you meditate on this truth as you pray, it softens you to recognize any sin that is you. That gratefulness for the goodness of God causes one to repent (Romans 2:4). Perhaps that’s why God leaves it toward the end? Perhaps then, after speaking the goodness of God over your life, you realize that there are some things that need some cleansing. You can then come in true repentance because your heart has been softened to Him. He is faithful. Allow Him to cleanse you in the Blood of Jesus.
Step 7: Acknowledge that you are forgiven and restored to your place in Christ.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
As long as you are wrapped in guilt, you cannot flow in the goodness of God. This is not because God doesn’t want to cover you in His glory (His goodness), but because you are blocking Him by not receiving what He has freely given in the Blood of Jesus. You must awaken to righteousness (right standing with God). You are not unworthy. God decrees over you, “NOT GUILTY BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS!”. You are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). You are not a sinner saved by grace. That’s being a spiritual schizophrenic. You are now a child of the Living God! You were a sinner. But now, bless the Lord, you are adopted and are God’s child! Glory!
You got this special place because of what Christ has done for you. You did not earn it, but you have received the truth of Christ for yourself.
So, now beloved, labor to enter His rest (Hebrews 4:11) knowing that you are now standing on His promise for your circumstance. How do you do this? Meditating on the Word day and night will bring you success (Joshua 1:8). It will give you the peace and assurance that it shall come to pass. Once you get to the point that you know in your knower that it shall come to pass, it shall! Praise your way to victory, for the covenant ends all arguments. If He said, He shall make it come to pass (Numbers 11:23).

This past weekend I had the privilege of encouraging a brother in Christ who had lost his vision of tomorrow because of his past was tormenting his present. He was using negative words of defeat (lies of the enemy) and his hope in Christ was dwindling away. He was on the verge of giving up on life. Thank God I was available to take his call. I went to his apartment and we covered just about every point you mentioned. He then realized the spiritual attack that he was under. Sunday, I went and picked him up for church and his life is now turned around. Everything we discussed before hand was confirmed in the message at church. Roc, you are spot on when you say it is a press through. Great blog. Thanks.
