Deal with the Root of the Issue

Article Title: Deal with the Root of the Issue ~ Lessons from the Fig Tree Incident

The verses in Mark 11:12-23 are often quoted when dealing with the issue of our mouth. We are shown the power of the spoken word filled with faith. What was once living, in this instance a fig tree, withered overnight from the root. The words Jesus spoke not only killed the leaves, but the whole tree!

We are even told by Jesus Himself that what we could do the same thing. We can look at something physical, speak The Word in faith, and it must do what we said.

Many struggle with this because they do not know how to reconcile the power that is working within them. Understandably, they do not want to presume that they are The God or become arrogant in thinking that it is because of their own power or goodness that things are happening. So let's address that.

When Jesus said you can do the same thing, He meant it. But we must reconcile that with the rest of Scripture. Jesus never did anything He didn't see the Father doing. Jesus spoke the Word only. So when He said you can do this to -- speak to something physical and command it -- He meant it. The key is to speak The Word, whether that comes in the form of Rhema (inspired by God) or Logos (directly written in the Word). Rhema Word will ALWAYS be backed up by Logos. Always. If it's not, it's not from God. I would suggest "to be on the safe side" to find the Logos for your physical situation.

Jesus fully expects His followers to act like Him. He fully expects the supernatural to be normal for you. For you to lay hands on the sick, and see them recover. For you to cast out devils in His name and see people set free so that they can fulfill their destiny. And He fully expects you to act like Him and speak to the physical and expect it to obey.

Why should it obey?

The physical dare not disobey Jesus. Jesus is the name above every name, in this world and in the one to come. It is in the name of Jesus that all things are done, because everything was made in Him and for Him. All authority has been granted to Him and He has given that authority to us. We are to be Jesus in this world for Him. That is the meaning of Christian -- Christ like. For some of the people around you, you are the only version of Jesus they will ever see. So what do you want to show them? Isn't it your desire to show them that Jesus is merciful, kind, loving, forgiving, and concerned for their everyday living?

Jesus believed every word He said, which is why He received such rapid manifestation. Jesus is our ultimate example. If He did it, that means you can to. But in order to flow like Jesus did, you need to believe every word that comes out of your own mouth. That means going back to the integrity of your own words.

Many times we struggle with believing God's promises because we do not believe He meant it for us. Perhaps that is because people you loved made promises to you that went unfulfilled and so you are reading the Bible through your own experience. Or perhaps you are so accustomed to little white lies and exaggerations, that you no longer believe everything someone says.

However, God's Word has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. There's is 100% integrity in God's Word. He meant every word that He said. He changes not. His methods of working them out may be different, but the outcome will always be the same. His Word will not return to Him void.

As He is, so are we in this world. This includes speaking to the physical. When you speak the Word of God to something, it goes to the root of the problem and dries it out! God's done His part. He's given you the promise. He's given you His authority and power in Christ. It's your part to believe what you say and say what He said. It's up to you to agree with Him. He is, after all, for you and not against you.

What about the time lapse? We know from the book of Daniel that sometimes there is a time lapse NOT BECAUSE God didn't move, but because the enemy tries to stop it from manifesting. The enemy only can use lies and deceit as a weapon in this side of the Cross. They are his fiery darts. This is why in Ephesians we are told to PUT UP the shield of faith. It quenches (which means to snuff out or rapidly cool) those darts.

So the next time the enemy comes to lie on God and try to deceive you that it's not working or that you shouldn't bother, tell him to cool it! Raise your shield of faith and declare God's Word has dealt with the root and all symptoms MUST cease. God has elevated His Word even above His name (Psalm 138:2). So whatever you decreed in the name of Jesus (which is a prophetic announcement) SHALL come to pass. So shall God's Word be that goes forth out of His mouth (and you used HIS Word out of yours, in effect coming in agreement with Him): it shall not return unto Him void, but it shall accomplish that which He pleases (which is the good outcome), and it shall prosper in the thing whereto He sent it(Isaiah 55:11)and He sent it right at the root of the issue! Glory to God!

So go ahead and speak the Word only and live victoriously in and through Jesus! It's not a matter of if, but when.
