Sowing and Reaping

Today's power verse comes from Proverbs 22, verse 8: He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

There are two things happening in this verse:

The first is part of the verse is telling us the cause and effect of doing something wrong. The easiest way for you to picture what will happen is the continual use of the terms sowing and reaping. Sowing is a farming term. You are planning something. In order to get a crop of corn you only have to scatter some seed. Each seed has the potential of a huge crop. As small as it is, when given the right climate, you will get a huge dividend. This works to our advantage when we do things in line with God's ways and our disadvantage when we don't.

When we plant things in, let's say our business/work that is wrong, we might temporarily receive some reward. But the true end result will be vanity, or what the Hebrew calls sorrow and trouble. That will be the eventual result of doing business contrary to how God meant for it to be done.

The second part of the verse is letting us know that when we abuse our power it will eventually fail us.  Those that control people using anger (which really has its roots in fear in this case) is eventually brought down.  Eithey they will fail themselves or wha they built will eventually be brought down to nothing (like the former Soviet Union).

Again, it's not a matter of if, but when.

    Raquel,
I believe that I know your husband, Hector. I was a muralist in Chicago at The Puerto Rican Cultural Center with Hector. I have been trying to contact him for years. I got saved in 1976 and am still serving The Lord. I ran across one of Hector's painting on the internet and tried to reach him but was unsuccessfull. If this is the same Hector Soto, could you have him contact me? It would be a blessing.
