Stop the Cycle

"Today's power verse comes from Proverbs 26, verse 11: As a dog returneth to his vomit, (so) a fool returneth to his folly.

I don't know about you, but when I first read this I thought, "That is so gross! Now why would God put that in there?"

One of the most disgusting things that dogs do is eat their vomit after they have eaten something. I don't have a dog, so I looked it up. It is believed that dogs come back to eat their vomit because what they ate didn't sit well with them. Not that it's vomit, they can now easily digest it.

Yuck!

But isn't this what people do in their lives over and over and over again? They do something they shouldn't be doing; produce things in their lives that are messy; then go right back to what made the mess in the first place?

This is what a foolish person does.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. This is the nicer way of saying that if you do this, you are just returning to your own vomit.

Don't return to what made you sick. Don't return to what is not producing good results in your life. Stop the cycle of ruin in your life. It's time to leave the mess alone.

NOTES

We've all been subject to doing this. How can you stop the cycle in the future?"

"I love your book!"

Corkey Snell, wife of pastor Jay Snell

"I can't put this book down! I know I should only concentrate on one page a day, but I can't! I read the current page and then read a few days ahead. I'm learning so much about myself and why things have worked out and why they haven't in the past. Now I'll know what to do when the situation arises again. Love it! Get this book!"

Lizzette, Chicago

"1 Minute Guide is so easy to understand. I'm a busy wife, mother, and marketplace person. I wanted to learn but had a hard time scheduling it in. Now I make the time and find that I think about what you wrote throughout the day. The journaling part is partically helpful. I love this book!"
