The phrase “being born again” jumped out at me in the beginning of last year. Many who visit my website are already living in Christ, so I found that strange at first. As I kept on listening for Him, it became clear of what He wants to do for you and through you:

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have life, and life more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV

It’s been said, and I agree completely, that if all Jesus did was die for us on the cross so that we can be eternally with the Father, we could not praise Him enough, love Him enough, worship Him enough. It is the core reason Jesus was born, lived, died, and resurrected. However, being the giver that God is, that was not enough. He wanted us to be born again, in every sense of the phrase; and that is to have life, and that life more abundantly.

How do we get there? How can we live an abundant life? As the Amplified Bible puts it, to the full, till it overflows?

And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which come] of the giants: and we were in our own sights as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. Numbers 13:33 KJV

Time and time again, as I minister to people from around the world, the common denominator in their struggles is the perception of how they see themselves. Over and over I hear: “ I know that God can, but will He do it for me?” Or, “Why should God bless me?” Or, “I know that He’s all powerful, but maybe He will and maybe He won’t. I’ll see…” Or “Well, I’m just a lowly no body. I just need enough for my family. I don’t need much. I just need enough to make it, Lord.”

Did you know that this is self-centeredness? It might sound like humility, but it’s not. Self-centeredness causes us to have a distorted image of ourselves. And so, if you have a distorted image of yourself, that’s how others will see you. Here, in the book of Numbers, we see that the Israelites are again doubting God. Once again, they put their eyes on themselves and in the power of their own might instead of saying and trusting in what God has said about them and about their future.

What do you say about yourself? Do you say what God says or do you say what others have said about you? What do you say about your future? Does it match up to what God has already prophesied in His Word?

We need to be born again so that those images that have been placed in you during your formative years are renewed and replaced by what God says. It is the only way to live a life of victory. You must be born again in your inner image. You are made in the similitude of God. You are made to function like Him. Is your life reflecting that in every area?

This is an ongoing project. Every time we think we’ve arrived we realize that there is yet another level of trust that we need to surrender to the Lord. So what now? What do you do to renew and correct your inner image?

 Get back on course!

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. Habakkuk 2:2 KJV

I heard Andrew Wommack tell his story of when he met Astronaut James Irwin. I’m going to retell the story as closely as I can remember it.

Mr. Wommack found all that technology that went into sending men up to the moon fascinating. He was able to speak with Mr. Irwin. In Andrew’s mind, he thought that due to all the technology, they were shot into space into a perfect course and landed exactly where they wanted to land on the moon.

However, when he met Mr. Irwin, Andrew found that what he thought was perfect wasn’t! Every 10 minutes NASA had to make a course direction. Once more, they had planned out a landing strip of 500 feet. When James landed, he found he was 5 feet off from the original landing spot!

So, what’s my point? Head toward the vision that God has placed in your heart. Okay, so you might have to make a course direction every 10 minutes and end up landing a little off from where you were suppose to be, but head toward that mark anyway! You might not make it exactly but you will make fulfill the role of your destiny if you allow God to direct you.

Don’t know where you are going? Write the vision down for this year and make it plain. Make the vision plain enough for you to remember. Plain for you to repeat out of your mouth and in your mind several times a day. Renew yourself in the area of your destiny.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he... Proverbs 23v7 NKJV

This year is surely going to be a tremendous year for you. Begin to dig in the Word and find what God has for you. Then take it, and run with it. It’s bought and paid for. Don’t be like the Israelites who died right outside their Promise Land. Believe God and stop focusing on yourself. God will make a way where there is no way. He did it over and over again for Israelites. He’ll do it for you. So, get out of His way already and hang on for the ride of your life!
