The Perfect Woman

Today's power verse comes from verse 30 (from the 31st Chapter of Proverbs): Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

There are three characteristics of a woman that are listed here. Two are no good when picking a wife: favor and beauty.

Men pursue women either based on how sweet they are or by how pretty they look. Then a few years down the road, they wonder what they got themselves into! They didn't marry a woman who had an awe and respect for God. Consequently, how can she then treat the husband the way he's to be treated?

Favor is a way that a woman treats a man kindly and affectionately. This is also the reason many men fall prey to adultery. Another woman's attention and affection seduces him into something he shouldn't be involved in. This kind of favor is deceitful because the same woman will not treat the husband the same way after they get married. Her true colors are shown after she gets what she wanted: marriage.

God made women to be visually stimulating. A beautiful woman has the features to attract a man in abundance. A woman's features can lure a man into believing he is in love, when he's not. Beauty does not equate good character. A beautiful woman without character is like a pig with a gold nose ring (Pro. 11:22). It's a waste of the gold and the pig just looks silly!

The perfect woman is a woman who has an awe and respect for God. She will be praised. Praised because her life will reflect the love of God in all she does. Now who wouldn't want to marry a woman like that?
