The diligent waster and the lazy person
From the December 18th page of the new book, The 1 Minute Guide to Health, Wealth, and Happiness: Wisdom from the book of Proverbs. For more benefit, read the 18th chapter of Proverbs.
Today's power verse comes from verse nine: He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
There are two reasons why people fail financially. Both reasons are listed in this verse.
People who are lazy will never make much. As we have seen over and over again in the book of Proverbs, diligence is a key component to increase. Even if someone who is lazy happens to receive wealth (such as in a lottery), due to not being diligent, it will head into the second category.
It does no good to be diligent if the finances you have gained are then wasted. You have turned your steadfastness into nothingness. It's good that you are diligent, but what do you have to show for it?
Both the diligent waster and the lazy person end up in the same place: with very little. They are in the same boat, doing different things, and yet having the same outcome: zero.
It's important that as you are working toward fulfilling your dreams that you keep everything in balance. Do not overwork yourself but continue in your prudence. As you increase, have some plan of how you would like to eliminate your debt. You can also think about what you would like to invest in when you get to a certain level of savings.
Don't get caught in one end of this boat going nowhere.
NOTES (The journal part of the book)
Do you have a little of both of these in you? How can you weed it out?
