In All Your Getting, Get This

Today's power verse comes from verse seven: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
This the key verse for the entire book of Proverbs and the key verse for our lives: get wisdom, and with everything that we are striving to get, get understanding. There are two things that we need to strive for, so let's look at them separately:
* Wisdom. It is the principal thing. It's the most important thing in the world. Wisdom will give you the ability to choose the right answer for whatever comes up in your life. It is the answer to a lifetime of health, wealth, and happiness. Education is not the same as wisdom. We spend millions of dollars a year in the United States educating people. I've met people that are smart but not wise. There is a difference. They might know their field, but that's all they know.
* Understanding is the discernment you need in order to see right through what is being presented to you and recognize any pit falls that might occur. The power of understanding will keep you from being led into something that will cause you harm.
Obtaining wisdom and understanding is not something that you can do passively. It has to be done on purpose. But your pursuit will be worth every moment you put into it.
