The Deceit from the studio that brought you Lord of the Rings
Yesterday the commercial for the Golden Compass (starring Nicole Kidman) came out. My husband said, "That looks like a great movie". So then I told him what happens in the 3rd installment of the book.
For those who don't know, the children kill God.
An atheist writes the series of books the movie is based on. It's his goal that the children see the movie and ask for the books at Christmas time. He wants to plant his view of the world in your children.
And he has every right to.
And I have every right to write as well. To inform you of the deceit that the studio is using to get unsuspecting children into the theaters. I'm disappointed but not surprised on so many levels. Just as the author wants to influence you to believe that there is no God, I am here to give you the other side.
How do I know that God is real?
Because of the effects He has had on me.
Like the wind that cannot be seen, God has changed my life and has blown a sweet breeze when I needed it. Like the leaves moving around to let me know about the presence of the wind, God has let me know He was around through a word from a friend, an action of a stranger, or simply reading the manual for an abundant life, The Bible. There is no evidence that wind exists except for its effects. If you studied my life, you will see that the invisible God must surely exist to have left such a presence everyday.
No matter how foolish I may appear to be chasing after Someone I cannot see but know is there, well then, let me be a fool. I wouldn't give God up for anything. There's too much evidence to the contrary.

You are absolutely correct. Deciet comes in many forms, often times wrapped up in what appears to be opportunity. Yes we must continue to declair the truth in the earth, mainly for our children. In Psalm 78, the son of Asaph commanded spoke these words, "Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments"
So if we teach our children, we save them from deceit.

The Amish people got it down. They just stay away from the stinkin' media.
We don't have to go to the movies at all, just because we think it is "normal".
Don't be surprised if you see me next time with a black hat
and a horse/buggy.
My point is...the vast majority of the media in our society is trash.
I don't need to use the phrase "I can handle it".
I can just say "I can avoid it."

My friend who grew up Amish was telling me that the reason the Amish do not use electricity has to do with freedom of religion. The Amish didn't want to depend in governments and municipalities to live. Their desire was to be free to worship and live the way they feel call to live. Although I don't disagree with your opinion that we can choose to live media free, I thought you would be interested in knowing that some Amish families now use generators to run their home appliances including TV sets. By the way, trashing most media free would also mean that you would stay away from the internet and all its click here adds. The intention of this author is to eliminate "kill" God from the minds of children. Unfortunately that's nothing new. Many of our friends and neighbors have successfully managed to live without God in their lives and no movie convicted them to do so. I guess I rather spend my time telling people what I'm for, than what I'm against.

thanks for the head's up. unlike what Chris shares here, I don't think it practical to bury your head in the sand in this day and age, (or possible for that matter), but as parents it's always helpful to know what your dealing with, with movies like the Golden Compass, because it then gives us a point of reference in discussions with your kids, if they do choose to see it.

Hi Raquel thank you for informing us of this travesty! The media's job is to do what it does and it is our job as Saints to sound the alarm, and to stay informed. We have to know what our children are being exposed to so that we can combat it with the TRUTH!

While one has the right according to the laws of our land to make and promote their lack of belief in the one true God. Even to our Children. However why are so few Christians promoting the the truth of our God, which will over come the the evil that they proclaim.
The truth of the Gospel of God and His Kingdom is much more enticing and appealing, when understood and applied to life. If all who call themselves followers of Christ were living breathing demonstrations of this, we would be making a much greater impact on the world around us of what the advantages of being in Christ really are.
Thank you for the confidence and boldness to stand up for God and His Kingdom!

Thanks Raquel for the info. We know that we are in the last days and the enenmy, the father of lies is well at work to move all the will hear, away from the truth. But the Lord has told us of these things beforehand. Paul warns that in the last days many will turn from the truth, giving heed to doctrines of "DEVILS"... and also, that evil men and seducers will become worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived...It is time, for us as lights in this world to stand up for the truth and not have to apologize for it. The Father is very much alive and soon all will know!
