The Little White Lie Myth
Today’s power verse comes out of verse 28: A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
I’m surprised by how many people justify little white lies. They are under the misinformation that it doesn’t really hurt anyone.
When we lie, in any form, the reason we do it is because we are in fear. Fear for whatever reason. Most times, when we esteem it to be small, it’s because we want to protect someone from being hurt. So we make something up instead of using wisdom to solve the issue. It’s in the times that we are hasty and pressured that we might give into the illusion of white lying.
This reminds me of another illusion: white magic. Aren’t both being used for the same reason: to manipulate the outcome for our own benefit?
When we lie we, whether we realize it or not, are demonstrating that we really don’t care about the person. If you love God’s way you cannot lie to someone because lying is not a demonstration of love. Even if you are tempted to, you start to feel uneasy because you know that what you are doing will have negative consequences.
Save yourself the heartache and headache: don’t do it.

For a limited time, a few of the devotionals will be posted for your spiritual enrichment in this blog. These are taken from the one year devotional One Minute Guide to Health, Wealth, and Happiness: Wisdom from the book of Proverbs © 2007, Raquel Soto All rights reserved
How to read: Chapter of the day correspondences to the day of the month (October 26th read the 26th Chapter of Proverbs). There is one power verse in that chapter for the day. The power verse of the day is then turned into the day's guide.

Maybe for some people adding "white" makes it justifiable. A lie is a lie and doesn't come in colors.
