Today’s power verse comes from verse 34: Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
Salvation is free, but you need to do something to get it. Favor is free, but you need to position yourself for it. Prosperity can be yours, but you will need to give something up first. Healing is available, but only if you do this first and foremost.
You see it all comes down to the issue of your heart. You scorn (mock) God when you come against the things He has said. You’ve then positioned yourself so that He can’t help you. Everything starts by humility. Humility isn’t looking down cast, but admitting and submitting to the supremacy of God. You must first believe that He says what He means and means what He says. If He tells you that He loves you and because of that love, you were provided Jesus to come back to Him and that is the only way to eternal life, what else could you do but say okay? Everything starts with humility and seeing God for Who He is and why He has set up things the way He has: it’s all about His love for you.
This doesn’t mean that we won’t have to do things; we aren’t to have the lazy mental attitude of “Well, God knows my heart”. That’s a cop out. But it does mean that we aren’t trying to do things on our own. When we mock God by submitting to ourselves instead of Him, we are the ones being mocked in the end.
