How to Get a Pay Increase
Today’s power verse can be found in verse 13: As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [so is] a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
The NLT is stated as Trustworthy messengers refresh like snow in summer. They revive the spirit of their employer.
It’s interesting that Proverbs makes the connection between being a trustworthy employee to the welcoming of snow in the summer. It’s refreshing and surprising.
In my observance and research, I’ve found it a shame that people are doing just enough at their jobs to not get fired. Then these are the same people who complain when they barely get a cost of living increase at their review! Their paycheck is seen as something that is owed to them out of obligation. But did they not enter into an agreement to do the work for a certain amount of financial compensation? How can one complain then if they aren’t increased? What new problems have they solved? How have they made things better? If one is doing exactly what they were hired to do, then one can expect to receive the same pay. But, if you do a little more, what a refreshment that is to an employer! And worthy of increased compensation!
If you want a pay increase, become refreshing to your boss. Revive him/her by solving problems in your department. You might be surprised yourself with the outcome.

For a limited time, a few of the devotionals will be posted for your spiritual enrichment in this blog. These are taken from the upcoming one year devotional to be released October, 2007 One Minute Guide to Health, Wealth, and Happiness: Wisdom from the book of Proverbs © 2007, Raquel Soto All rights reserved
How to read: Chapter of the day correspondences to the day of the month (September 25th read the 25th Chapter of Proverbs). There is one power verse in that chapter for the day. The power verse of the day is then turned into the day's guide.

You are of course assuming the fact that the "Boss" is honest and of a good heart. I worked hard and made Class A {Top pay} in one year. Gave my best for my employer for years, even though I was constantly mistreated and passed over. I "quit" with three weeks paid vacation from my factory job {Favor of God!}, it was that or get fired without the vacation pay. One year later they canned EVERYONE and moved to a "Right to Work" state, no unions allowed. Guess they liked the minimum wage the illegals would settle for.
God is good! I have been "walking on water" now for 2+years thank-you Jesus!!! How about a verse for good customers finding me?

O that you would bless me indeed
and enlarge my territory,
that Your hand would be with me
and that You would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain. 1 Chron. 4: 10

I got a great teaching on this from my old site:

God is faithful when we are. If our employer won't do what's right, God will make sure someone else will bless you!
He promised: Blessed going in, blessed coming out!
Seems like you are living that promise to the glory of God!
Praise the Lord!

it is funny just today one of my employee's told me he will be leaving our company this up coming Nov. When i asked him why he responded that he has made the same pay for the past 2 years and has not recieved a raise. He made a comment about a duty manager who always makes his reviews and always finds something to reject his increase. I in turn told my friend perhaps you should stop making his job so easy. We kind of laughed at each other, then he gave me a look and said i was late a lot perhaps he was right. We reap what we sow i told him. He shook his head in agreement and walked away.
May all who read this have a blessed day.
