Style over Substance?
Today’s power verse comes to us from verse seven: Wisdom [is] too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
Fools are not likely to obtain wisdom because it is too much work for them. It is a character flaw (but one that can be overcome) of a weak person. Because of their foolishness, they can’t even contribute to their country. A fool should not be put into public office of trust and responsibility.
This is something we need to keep in mind when we are voting for a candidate for any level of public office. To often people are caught up in their parties that they rather vote for the fool than for the one that is more qualified. And only because you might see the person as a fool, it doesn’t mean that they are.
By now, you have read Proverbs nearly nine times through. How does your favorite candidate measure up to Proverbs? Is this person a person of integrity? Will they do what is right because it’s right, in spite of any political consequences? Do they always do what they say they will do? What is this person’s track record? Is this person double minded a lot?
We are so personality driven in the United States. It’s time to rise up and choose substance over sex appeal. It’s time to rise up and take control of our land again. Aren’t you tired? Will you rise up today?

For a limited time, a few of the devotionals will be posted for your spiritual enrichment in this blog. These are taken from the upcoming one year devotional to be released October, 2007 One Minute Guide to Health, Wealth, and Happiness: Wisdom from the book of Proverbs © 2007, Raquel Soto All rights reserved
How to read: Chapter of the day correspondences to the day of the month (September 24th read the 24th Chapter of Proverbs). There is one power verse in that chapter for the day. The power verse of the day is then turned into the day's guide.

Hi Raquel,
As always, I find this to be edifying.
I hate politics, and I run from the whole scent of it, but I also am aware of the reality of it.
I'm afraid that no matter what we do, our (and probably everyones) political system will fail and has already failed.
Of course it will, because it is probably the real "marker" for when God will return, being that when He comes there will be a "false government" in charge, so what I see is all that taking place, little step at a time.
But! Of course, even in the light of what will happen we should only support those who are supportable, and those few, if we can find any, would and should be wise!!
me.
